All u need to know about sails in UWO !!

Vertical Sail VS Horizontal Sail

Most people have different opinions about this. But did they really know how it works?

Using this chance given by Red-Haired-Shanks, I will give some sailing tutorial based on my experience in Uncharted Waters Online and a few other Sailing MMOG. It might not be accurate, but I hope everyone will get the big picture about how your sail work.

Before I start explaining on how sail works, I want to explain about the wind first. Sometimes we feel, wherever we go, we keep having headwind just like the wind really hate us. The truth is, in Uncharted Waters Online, we have 2 wind seasons (summer and winter).

here, I would suggest to all UWO players to download GVO Navi program (use google, it will show on the 1st list) or at least download the map provided by ipewannasay in Netmarble Forum using this GVO-Mediafire-link   <<< Click There xD.

Those maps will have 2 most wind directions as your reference. It might change around 30 degree left or right from it, so be aware and don’t blame this map wind direction as a mistake. Still, your experience is also the best teacher. So use it as your reference only.

Now I will start explaining about sail :)


1.     Vertical Sail

The game has already mentioned in the beginner school quest that vertical sail is good on headwind. But did you know that vertical sail is also bad on tailwind? I won’t say Vertical Sail is good on headwind, but I prefer to say it is really good on side wind.

So, using the clock direction, avoid headwind from 11.00 to 1.00, and avoid tailwind from 5.00 to 7.00.

When you sail in the red direction, your sail might lose around 10% of your true sail speed. I don’t know exactly the penalty given by this game, it is just my estimation.


2.    Horizontal Sail (Square Sail)

I believe everyone have already experienced how fast we are when sailing using horizontal sail. But really hate it when we get headwind. Hmm.. who didn’t? :)

Penalty given on headwind using horizontal sail might reach 30%. Before you say “Impossible!” because your ship has never reached penalty up to 30% of your speed when using horizontal sail, be patient please, I will explain the big picture in no.3 :)

What is the most advantageous when using horizontal sail is on tailwind. I can estimate that you can get bonus around 10% on speed.

It looks like the red area is so big, yes it is. I will use clock direction again. Using Horizontal sail, you have to avoid headwind coming from 10.00 to 2.00. I don’t need to explain how big is the area for tailwind most favoured, because I believe you are already happy to sail on “normal speed”.

3. Horizontal Sail + Vertical Sail

Here we go about the big picture I mentioned before.

As you have already noticed, all ships have vertical points and horizontal points.
Before I answer that, how about if we combine those 2 pictures into 1? What is the result?

 

Now we can forget about the green area, because that area is the speed area, you don’t have to worry for the wind coming from those direction.

But now why did I put yellow area on it?

As I’ve explained before, when using square sail, you will be faced with a bigger area to avoid, and your speed will be reduced to 30%. But, if your vertical sail is bigger than 30% of your square sail, then your vertical sail will take place here. And remember, your vertical sail doesn’t have the penalty on yellow area.

How about the headwind in red area? It also works in the same way. Penalty for square sail reaches 30%, whilefor your vertical sail only 10%, now use your calculator. The biggest number will take place.

Now, have you decided yet which sail is the best?

Well, this is how I use my sail. Before I start sailing, I’ll check all wind directions I will find on may way to destination using map in GVO Navi. Then, I try to set course best for horizontal sail. Normally, I will use large extra sprit in my special equipment. But sometimes, you can’t avoid to face headwind no matter how you’ve tried to set the best course. If I encounter this difficulty, I will use large extra spanker to replace my large extra sprit. This way, I still can sail fast on headwind.

So in my opinion, decide your destination, routes and sail or even refit your ship, if possible, before you start your voyage.
I hope my explanation will help. I know it’s not perfect or even accurate. I would be happy if someone could help me fix some error in it ^^

I miss my dear family in Venice,  I miss my beautiful daughter .. hope I can travel back safely there and buy her some good presents .. Those are the best surprise gifts we ever received in our lives. Still kinda remember some good presents we got long ago .. from our best friends, our wife, our soul mate via nakama , and

our parents .. not the presents actually, but the warm cuddles and hot chocolate in front of the fire are memorable moments aren't they ..

# 1 Minute Super Tips - Increase Marching Skill The Easy Way

Right now I'm sweating myself in the enchanted forest near East Sumatra.. sitting under a tree!! Lol!! This is a very good advantage, since all you have to do is be in land battle area, and boom! Every 10 minutes or so, your marching skill is increased !!

If you don't have anything to sell in your bazaar, or you are going for dinner, afk shopping out town, dating with hot chicks, blogging whatever ...  why not head to the nearest land battle ground and sit in peace under the shade! :)

Really simple, isn't ? Every minutes in this games is precious, right? Bet you didn't think of that xD

5 Best Nation SwordMaster in Actions !!

Guys, sorry for the delay! I have been on almost a week holiday with my family in another town. But I am inspired by a very strange idea lately.. How is it strange? Have you ever watch "Games of Thrones"? Yeah, I think it is the best TV series this season.. It is about a political civil war between 7 regions in old fashioned century. The best part? Of course the shiny, gleaming, mystical swords and dragon myths :P

Talking about swords.. the story started when I was looking at the skill stats rank. Oh no.. I need a lot of proficiencies to rank up my skills before I can get to the SwordMaster Job !!! ..... but if i can get that Master Job now, I can easily get all that as favored skills. All the easier to make all the related skills rank up. Favored skill? What did that even mean? Always new terms to get your head spinning, eh?




Swordmaster quest - London; Pride of swordsman
Requirement :Swordmastery R8 - English -30k Battle Fame - Lvl 40 mt. - no pre req

 

The stars at the expert skill show SwordMaster favored skill. These stars will shine when we get any specialized jobs that include all those favored skills we want.. The good thing is that the favored skills help you to gain more points with low proficiency. For example, to increase SwordPlay Skill Rank 4 (they are represented as R4.. so get use to more shortforms like TGGAT, MFRS , MFCV etc..lol) to Rank 5 (R5), needs 2500 Proficiency. But if SwordPlay is a favored skill, then it will require only 1500 Proficiency to achieve, more time saving.. Got it?

So, what do I do now? Talk to any hot chick that got "SwordMaster" job of course!! lol.. 

What ?! Yeah, the hot chick is a MUST wahahahah !!!

My friend , Mileena landed herself the master job. So, after a few discussions ( yes, please use +5 Persuasion Items against all hot chicks :P ), I followed her to the maritime guild and leeched her with other 3 members. By doing this, the SwordMaster Job Quest Unlocked !!

 By the way, you might want to fleet with 4 others because the enemies are quite tough and a huge number at that. If you get a full fleet then it will be a more fair deal in the duels !! And the most interesting part is that we managed to gather members from 5 different nations; with a sip of blood from swords and we are all now sworn to brotherhood until the end !!

So the news from city was true ..  on our best lookout, we found the enemy waiting as if sensing our presence there. Bravely, we stepped forward and faced them all, commanded them to surrender! But no sire, defeat were not in their blood! They were the master in the game, fearly known as the 5 Royal Ancient Tygerian Dragon Guards .. No coward word they carried in their long cursed massacre life .. As a master face another, we were looking eye on eye

..  and when the time came so silently , only a gust of wind on our faces  ...

Battousai shouted, " For Brotherhood !!!!! "

And then the most fearsome battle engaged !! Couldn't even think for a second, all my best skills were bursting rapidly unstoppable ..  Just the sound of slashing swords , and blood dripped as each master pierced one another .. And we faced them, fearless of the Swordmaster, proud to be in the best swords fight ever !!

Nearing the peak ending, I stabbed the leader on the chest after slashing his knees and wrist with my critical blows " The 10,000 Swords Flower " !!

For a SwordMaster, to end their life in battle is an honour.

As they fall, I could see them still smiling. Even in the end it was a lost to them, but when the battle commenced, their heart were racing again, as the best duels of their life happened again. It was a great feeling bestowed upon only the best swordmaster. 

It was a glorious victory !! Thanks again to all members of the brotherhood; Battousai, kaylass, Romanovska and Mileena for this cool quest.

FUWOM® Prelude

A couple of weeks back, I met an adorable furry bear in Cairo. Well, actually it is an UWO Police but isn't that a really cute costume, just like the pumpkin head that I used to wear one time (I'm sure my friends would remember my cuteness with the charming pumpkin right? .. Ah I know I'm cute don't flatter me too much :P

Scammers in town..

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked here. We were discussing about scammers in town, that even UWO top management couldn't do anything about it. It's pretty hard, as a scammer can easily delete his character after a false deal and make a new character. These scammers can even manage to reach high power leveling, up to level 30 for each class ( therefore we have to be careful and avoid any dealer with lower than 100 level when accumulated all classes , it's wayyy too risky bebeh !! )

I have posted a discussion thread in Netmarble forum to get the best advice from all seniors and UWO members on how best to deal with this situation. You can look up the discussion at this link http://tinyurl.com/shanksuggest. My idea is to create 1 public review to assess any name that you consider recommended and trustworthy to reduce the scamming activity. We want to get more security in dealing the big 5 ships or any items that is worth more than 100 million transactions.. Yeah it's a risky business but we need to sort this out efficiently !!








The Official Fellowship of UWO Merchants® or FUWOM® is a good start to gather all fellowship merchants and reunite to fight for this purpose. Most of all I need your advice and all of your support to make sure this really work.


Let's wrapped it up for now...

Not only recommended name can be sorted out , but it will be a guild of merchants that will decide what should the best price of each big 5 ships and look into how to improve the current transaction today. We can provide better solution for future transactions to Netmarble in rectifying the scammerism (is that even a word? lol) issues. We will somehow manage the market inflation & prevent from the ruin of future economic server issues, and any related matter in merchants view goes back and start with us first, how's that sound? :)

As this rate, WE ARE BECOMING THE NEW GOVERNMENT ! We welcome all the memorandums from all company's director which will be issued to the server management (Netmarble). Hopefully we will be able to exchange the issues for REAL favor and highlight suggestions between them and the public residency in all nations.

Aren't we going too serious lately ??!! Ahahaha :P

Last night was full of excitement because I managed to get SwordMaster job done even though I don't have full requirement on it lol xD... How? Yeah, don't forget to check out my next post in the journey of "5 Best Nation SwordMaster Prelude" (plus we had 3 HOT CHICKS with us) Yes, it was indeed an epic story :P

Oh btw, after returning from the master job quest (feeling all happy inside ^_^), I was dueled by a hot chick Romanovska. If I win, she will write me an old fashioned love letter and give me a kiss, so why not, right?  Then right after the duel, she just whip out a rod and start fishing right there on London Bridge, here in London major city. Wow! I don't even know we can do that. So, I joined fishing with her and a brilliant idea come across my mind hehe... Eh, what? The duels? Love letter and a kiss?  Who won? Lol ... I guess you have to look out for the next update too :P

I gave a few shouts at London city and a promise of a reward of 1 milion ducat to giveaway to whoever that can catch Alphonsino fish at the bridge. A lot of participants took part in this unofficial mini-event by me lol :P Yeah, it was at London Bridge bebeh, the falling down bridge :P Everything that happened yesterday had totally made my day today. It's great knowing new people ( and some hot chicks too ;P ), the new master job and the new sensation of fishing ...

The result? Everyone caught Alphonsino fish ( the orange color, you will recognize it somehow later hehe .. ) and  received the promised 1 million ducat per person sponsored by FUWOM®. That was major funnnnnnnnnnnnnn guys !! Thanks to all for making my day and for giving your full support everyday on my little blog here.. Fellowship and a Cup of Coffee

I was reading my fave manga, Onepiece when I stumbled across this epic game. I just got bored after finishing Dragon Age I & II and Black Ops and I saw UWO on Onepiece ads. Who can resist its temptation, after all, it boasts of sea, ship and pirates! Downloading.. installing.. installation done... and Ahoy Matey! Red-Haired-Shanks sails for the first time.

A cup of coffee ..

Every night Red-Haired-Shanks will sail accompanied by a hot cup of coffee. I remember I must have had the smallest boat ever to exist on UWO lol! I think all of you experienced that too, right? It was so freaking slow, I gaze in awe at those gleaming clipper passing by. Traveling from Venice to London for like 1 hour then, it's the same time for me to go to India now :P  And my first battles were pathetic, those NPC pirate ships just nudge my little boat and I lost lol. That's when I found kind-hearted people in this game; I was sinking and one kind fellow, Bk saved me and until now I still call him Captain:) He gave me a brand new, expensive and high level ship ( for my low level at that time lol :P ). To me then it was a gift from Heaven! Yeay! Beware, you stinking NPC pirate ships! I'll get ya!



Fellowship ...

That was a long time ago. I'm just so lucky to be in my company, GoldenHorde now, with all these great people. MetalicA, my captain helps me from the beginning; I'm like the first three mate in the company at that time. Enjoying this game is not just about their items or stuff or ships but the value of being a part of fellowship and trustworthy. Until today from that day 3 months ago, I'm now on the way to be a great pirate of the 15th century; going on my way to be a pirate with a different view from any other pirate existed at sea.

Great sea age now begin !!
